13 Miler!!

Well, my morning started a little 'off', but it ended up great!! This morning was my last long run before my Half next Saturday. I decided on the park I wanted to run at, so I left my house around 7:30 and got to the park around 8. When I got there it was packed, and the street was all backed up, there was some kind of Meet going on. I decided I didn't want to run there, and definitely didn't want to wait in all that traffic!
 So, I just kept driving, hoping I could find another park. After about 15 minutes of driving around (no, I wasn't lost, why would you think that!), I found one! I pulled in and it was beautiful!
It was a PERFECT morning. 55-60 degrees, sunny, slight wind- ahhh amazing.
I ran for 2 hours, 45 mins. Around a 12 min. pace. I ran almost the whole thing, but I hate being a slow runner! I've decided after this Half, I will start working on my speed. On the treadmill I can easily do 10 min pace, but outside I slow down for some reason!
 After I was done, I wasn't pouring sweat like I usually am! But oh, I have never felt such pain!! I seriously didn't know if I was going to be able to drive home!!
 I remember when I first started running 5k's, and getting home, and barely being able to walk inside the house. Lol! So, I know this too shall pass!! One of these days I'll do 13 miles- no problemo!
 My legs are still pretty sore, but my honey gave me a nice massage with some Arnica, that definitely helped!
I do believe I'm ready for my Half Marathon next weekend! I'm sooo excited!

  Have you ever eaten seaweed? I found this the other day and just HAD to try it!!
OMG, I took a big bite and seriously gagged!! It was disgusting!! My 14 year old stepson ate half the bag though! Hubby ate quite a bit too! It's just thin sheets, and it tastes like fish and spinach. YUCK!



  1. LMAO! One of my friends eats seaweed all the time and I bought nori sheets last week (and sushi rice...I was hungry while shopping...not a good plan, but I didn't leave with any extra chocolate so it's all good!) and I ate one by itself. Blech. So gross. Too bad I don't have a sushi roller thingy to put to use!

    Great job on 13!!! My first half is tomorrow and I should not be on the computer, but I am giddy and can't sleep! I know screen time will make it worse...I should put myself to bed now, right? right! Good luck next weekend!!!

  2. I LOVE sushi, but just can't handle that seaweed! Good job on not picking up any chocolate too!
    Good luck on your half! Can't wait to hear about it!! I doubt if I'll get any sleep next Friday either!

  3. Way to go on your 13 miler! You are the exact opposite of me-- I can run a 9.30 mile outside but the minute I step on a treadmill, it's like a brick wall trying to run any faster than a 12.30 mile!!
    I am not a fast runner by any stretch of the imagination, but every run is a good run- even the slow ones.
    Have fun tapering this week!

  5. Good luck!!! I started training on my treadmill and was much faster than when I was outside. After spending time outside it switched. Now the treadmill slows me down... I'm a slow runner too and I am learning not to care too much! I'll be thinking of you this weekend!

    1. That must be why, the tm is where I've done most of my training too. Now that it's cooling down, I can get outside more and work on my speed! Thanks, Abbey!

  6. It took me a while to accept my race times. My best half was 2:20. I always feel like I only have ONE pace! Slow and steady! I will say that my training runs are always slower then my actual races!! You will rock your half!!!!

    1. Hopefully this Half will be faster than my training runs too! 2:20 is an awesome time!!

  10. Thanks, Abby! I'm glad fall finally got here, hopefully it will soon for you too. I was so tired of that heat!
