Training for a Marathon!

Yes, you read that right.
Monday I started training for a marathon. Honestly, I am scared out of my mind. That's HUGE.
I can do a Half, I think I could do a Tri- but a FULL marathon??
Can I really run 26.2 miles?? I mean, really?
I started training for it anyway. In spite of my fears!

I did a search for best first time marathons. I found a list of 15, and this one sounds like it might be the best one. I don't want to do one in KY, but I also don't want to travel a far distance for it. (Well, I would, if I could!) So, Cincy is a good distance. And this sounds like fun too!
Flying Pig Marathon

I asked my honey what he thinks about it, and he said "go for it, you can do it". He's so amazing.

So, I'm training, but I haven't registered yet. Should I just bite the bullet and register?
Is this really possible for ME??

  7. You're my hero!! I never had any interest in running a full marathon, but now that I've trained and run a half, I've got the bug. My goal is to run a full next fall now. Can't wait to follow your training on your blog!

    1. That's when I got the bug too. I guess it's just knowing that I ran a half, so wanting to push myself a little bit (or a lot!) further! You can do it too, Brandi!!

    1. That's the best way to do it, just pay for it early. It's cheaper that way and no backing out! That's what I need to do.

    1. I had to do the same thing with my Half. I registered for it back when I could hardly run a 5k! So it was great motivation!
Good luck on your half! You can do it!!

  11. I saw a comment you left on another blog and loved your nickname, so I stopped by to check your blog out and then see your considering The Flying Pig in my home state. It is a great race, its hilly, but so is Kentucky, so training for the terrain will be easy for you.

One of my favorite quotes ever, especially when I am training for events is by Rosalynn Carter

"You have to have confidence in your ability, and then be tough enough to follow through."

    1. Thanks so much! I do run a lot of hills here, so I don't think that would be a big problem. It sounds like a fun race!
I LOVE that quote! I'm going to write that one down and read it often!
