About that medal I won...

They made a mistake!!! I was not supposed to get the age group medal for the turkey trot!!

When my Twinnie texted me, letting me know I had won, I thought surely it must be a mistake. My time was 30:25, but I just knew I couldn't have been the fastest in my age group! But still, I thought just maybe!!
Sure enough, last night I looked at the results, and I came in 7th, not 1st!!

Yea, mistakes happen, but arghhh!! Do they have to happen to me??

Yes, I'm pouting.
I sent them an email, but no one has replied. I feel so bad for the actual winner! I can't imagine how she feels, knowing she should've received the medal, but didn't!
What a mess!

Oh well, next year I WILL WIN A MEDAL!

  1. How weird that they mixed that up. Are your names similar? Sad!

And we're headed to KY tomorrow. Any good turkey day races that you know of near Bowling Green?

  3. Such a bummer! And 7th?! that's a weird mix-up! I got a 4th place ribbon once (yeah, it was one of those races where almost everyone gets a prize: 5-year age groups, up to 6th place each group!) that was supposed to be 5th...there was no 6th place runner so I figured either way I was the slowest in the age group. (Nothing like being at a race that awards that far out and having NO ONE behind you at the podium!! LOL)

  5. Sorry to hear there was a mix up! I still think you did fabulous! You're 100% correct you will win a medal, but every time you cross a finish line is also a victory! Cheers!

  6. that sucks. I'd hate to be on cloud nine and yanked off like that :( Pout away. I remember when I got my 5k PR and then some guy told me the course was short - ARGh!

    1. Oh, I know that sucks too, that happened to me last year! I ran a 5k, and when I crossed the finish line, the clock said like 25 minutes or something. I was overjoyed...until they told us all we didn't really PR, they measured the coarse wrong!! Of course I was wearing my Garmin, so I figured something was wrong, but still!!

  9. What a huge bummer! But mad props to you for telling them! I am sure most people would've kept it to themselves!
