A few days ago I was complaining that my weight loss was SO slow and hadn't seemed to move in months! I've always heard that you shouldn't weigh yourself everyday, but I admit, I'm a daily weigh-er! So, some mornings I'm excited, other mornings I'm depressed! I let the scales have control over my day! But still in a way, I felt like it kept me accountable too.
Well, a few days ago I was having one of those depressed mornings. How is it possible that I can run 25+ miles a week, do a strength training dvd 4 days a week, and the stupid scale not even move an ounce?! I eat healthy, some days probably too few calories. I do have icecream once a week though. But even still, I should be losing weight!
Then I remembered I hadn't taken my measurements in a long time. So I took them again.
I saw that in the last 3 months I've lost 10 lbs (terrible), and 13.5 inches!! 5 from my waist, and 4 from my hips! The others from my arms and thighs. I'm so excited about that!
So, new experiment... I will not weigh again until Dec. 1. I've never gone that long without weighing, but I'm just going to try it! I would love to lose 10 lbs this month and some more inches!
I decided to take a random picture of my legs, just to see my progress. I didn't realize they look MASSIVE!! I don't want man legs! Lol! But I'm very grateful these legs help me run!
Speaking of running, 2 more days until my 2nd Half Marathon! I'm so excited! The weather will be perfect, and I'm going to PR! My time will be 2:30 or less. There, I just had to put that in writing for you all to see!
QOTD:
How often do you weigh yourself?
I feel like I'm having the same problem. But I have seen inches lost more than weight so that's always a plus.
ReplyDeleteI try and only weigh myself once a week but sometimes I do it more...
Yay for your 2nd marathon can't wait to read all about it and good luck!!
I've learned inches are more important anyway! Thank you, I'll let you know how it goes!!
DeleteOoooo! Two more days until your 1/2!! I love to read about people's race experience :D
ReplyDeleteAnyway, THAT'S A LOT OF INCHES, GIRL! Nice!
I used to be a daily-weigher and really let little fluctuations dictate my mood. Bad times. I think it is GREAT that you're taking the month off the scale. It's been about 2/3 months now and I have no idea what I weight - and I'm going to keep it that way. These days, I have a specific pair of jeans and top that I use to gauge where I'm at! :)
That's a great way to gauge it, the numbers on a scale shouldn't be that important! I'm trying to learn that!
DeleteHalf Marathon!!!! I also have decided after today to take a month off of the scale. I have decided that it is more important to feel good about yourself then about a number. I am buying a new outfit to wear for thanksgiving to help with motivation!
ReplyDeleteBest of luck this weekend!
Good, I'll have a non weighing buddy for the month! :) Buying a new outfit is definitely motivation. Thanks, Felicia!
DeleteThose are the legs of a runner! They look great! I am a daily weigh-er too. It is very frustrating at times. Good luck on your half-marathon! I'll be doing my first one sometime next year :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jennifer! I'm going to follow you, because I want to hear all about your first one, it'll be unforgettable, for sure!
DeleteWay to go girl! That's an awesome loss in inches AND in pounds! Since I began training for my 1/2, my weight loss has stalled out, which is frustrating.....seriously- I work out 6 days a week! But I am learning that it's not about the scale! I feel fantastic and I am HEALTHY......the scale will follow in it's own sweet time!!
ReplyDeleteYay for your second 1/2! My 1st on is a week from Saturday- I am SUPER stoked!! :)
Thanks, ELizabeth! I know, it is SO frustrating when you're working hard, but the scale doesn't show it! But you feel great and you're healthy- that's what's really important! (I have to tell myself that too!)
DeleteI can't wait to hear about your half!! I know you'll do awesome!
Hot legs!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Anna Roo!
DeleteI read this too often, I am from a different school of thought, I forget the scale and I look at body fat, for example, your a perfect example of it, you might have lost 10 pounds in 3 months, but you lost 13.5 inches, and that is a significant loss, so your burning fat and producing muscles in its place. Fit is the new thin.
