For quite awhile I've been wanting to take a Spin Class, but couldn't find any near me. Then a couple days ago my SIL told me that her church (20 minutes away) offers spin classes, for only $2 a class!! I was SO excited!
I signed up right away and even convinced my Twinnie to come with me!!
We were the last ones to get to class, so we got to sit in the very back! I thought that was a good thing until I realized the big fan did not reach us! From the very beginning I was DRIPPING with sweat. I could hardly see because it was getting in my eyes! (I thought the hat would help with that, but it didn't.)
| See that fan up in the top, left hand corner? Yea, couldn't feel a thing! |
There was a guy there helping the 'newbies', so he adjusted the seat for me, but the whole time I felt like it was way too high. My arms and lower back are so sore today, because for the whole hour I was totally supporting my body weight on my arms and felt like I was bending over too far! I don't know if it's supposed to be that way??
| Before the Sweat Fest! |
But I loved the class, and plan on going once a week!
On Tuesday I started a 30 Day Vegan Challenge. It's going great! I never realized how little I actually eat meat, eggs and dairy! I honestly don't feel like I'm giving anything up. I thought the hardest thing would be to give up my icecream. But my friend, Kim, at ilaxSTUDIO, who's also a vegan, told me to try some vegan 'icecream'! I had heard about them before, so had been wanting to try them. I went shopping last night and found Almond Dream. I got the Chocolate Bites and the Praline Crunch. O.M.G. They are both amazing!!
Do you know how excited I am that I can do this vegan challenge AND still eat my 'ice cream'??!! Of course it still has calories, so I won't over do it. Well, try not to anyway. ;)
Tomorrow I'll be running 17 miles. 6 more weeks until my first marathon! Tomorrow is finally supposed to be a warm, sunny day- I can't wait to get outside and run!!
QOTD:
Have you taken a Spin Class? Does my form look right?
What are your running plans for the weekend?

Spin is hard if you have the right teacher. I was sweating alot too! My butt was also sore from the first time I did it, even though we didn't sit on the seat for great lenghts of time
ReplyDeleteWe did get up off the seats quite a bit, so that was good. They also gave us gel seat covers to put on the bike to make it not quite so hard, that did help!
Deletewow 2 bucks a class.. where do i sign up? lol.. but spin is hard but so much fun!!!!
ReplyDeleteI know, I couldn't believe it was that cheap!! I loved it!
DeleteI love spin and wow at $2 that's cheap! You do look a little high- it could stand to be dropped just a little. My butt/bones were the most sore the first 2-3 times but after that they were used to it :)
ReplyDeleteI was surprised at how cheap it was! Ok, that's good to hear, I sure felt too high! They gave us gel seat covers, so I know that helped, but I'll be glad when my booty does get used to it!
Delete$2 a class is awesome! I've never done a spin class but I've heard its a great workout! I have 15 miles to knock out this weekend. I'm training for my first 1/2 which is May5!!
ReplyDeleteCrazy cheap! Every other fitness class around here is $5-$12! I hope your 15 went well!! If you're doing 15 already, you'll totally be ready for that 1/2!
DeleteI used to spin at the gym once a week, but with marathon training found that 1x a week wasn't worth the membership. I would kill for a $2 a pop class.
ReplyDeleteI was always told the seat should be right about hip level and you shouldn't need your arms at all really, just to stabilize.
I was shocked to hear it was only $2! Maybe that's why the class was packed! :)
DeleteOk, I definitely felt way too high. I'll lower it next time. My arms are still sore!
No way!! I love spin! I need to join you next time! We still have to Zumba together too!
ReplyDeleteYou do?? Awesome! Ok, I'll let you know when I'm going again, and hopefully you can meet me there! Yes, zumba sometime too!

Hi, Meg! I'll be right over! :)
DeleteI love spin but haven't done it in a while. I find I'm more sore if I don't remind myself to keep my elbows bent. It's great for crosstraining. Just a couple of easy runs this weekend and then taking it easy. Shamrock 1/2 in Virginia Beach on St. Patty's Day. Good luck with your long run! :)
ReplyDeleteI didn't know I needed to keep my elbows bent. I'll do that next time too, my arms are still sore! Hope your runs went well, your 1/2 is coming up soon!!
DeleteHi! Newest follower here... via Aloha Friday! I love your blog and was kinda hopin' that you'd pop on by, stay a while, and follow me back if you like what you read!

Hi Sarah! Thanks so much for stopping by, I'll be right on over! :)
DeleteI also really like Almond Dream's dairy-free yogurt. I'm glad that your 30-day Vegan Challenge is going well. :)
ReplyDeleteToday was probably the most difficult day. Not sure if it had anything to do with my 17 mile run or not. But I was ravenous and it was hard to find something with no dairy or eggs! I'll have to check out their dairy free yogurt too!
DeleteYour blog has been nominated for a Liebster award! Go to my blog to check it out.

Thanks, Regan! I'll be right over! :)
Delete$2 for a spin class is a great deal! Hopefully next week you will get a bike close to the fan and get the seat adjusted to fit you better.
ReplyDeleteIt sure is! I'm sure next week will be a much better experience!
DeleteThanks for the shoutout! So happy you found some yummy vegan ice cream! I have had both of those before, sigh. So good. So, so good :)
ReplyDelete$2 for spin?! Schweet! I would wonder about being up so high too. Hmm. I guess they know what they are doing?
Hope your 17 was fab! :)
The guy that was 'helping' us seemed really rushed and in a hurry, so I'm thinking maybe he just wasn't really paying attention to how high he put the seat. I'll lower it next time and hopefully it'll be better! The 17 was amazing!! :)
Deletei don't think i'm coordinated enough to do it, hehe. but i'd try. found and following via the hop!
ReplyDeleteYou totally could do it! It really doesn't even require coordination- thank goodness! Thanks for stopping by! :)
DeleteThank-you very much for the comment you left on my blog. Thank-you also for your honesty. I have to agree that black tights with a white skirt is not always flattering. The tights I'm wearing are actually brown, but they are really dark in the pictures, and they do look black. Thank-you for stopping by and please, never be afraid to say what you think about the outfit I'm wearing. I like to have some criticism every now and then. It helps with what looks good and what may look really awful.

Thank you! I do love your blog and your style!
DeleteHey! Found you via Aloha Friday!
ReplyDeleteI'm a runner too, and have felt the same about having to run by myself... for YEARS! I have finally found a gal to run with and now I'm struggling finding my pace while trying to talk!!! BUT, it is such a welcome change!
Yea for your marathon! Super exciting!
I'm following now... come visit... and follow too!
I'm at http://www.ccmcafeeperspective.com/
That's great that you've found someone to run with. I agree, it takes practice learning how to run and talk at the same time! Lol! I will follow back! Thank you!
DeleteHi - love your blog! I am also running my first marathon this spring (not until May). I have done a lot of halves, but this will be my first full. I am watching your long runs as I am about 1-2 miles/long run behind you. I did 14 this past week and will do 16 this week. Look forward to a report on your 17 miler this week!
ReplyDeleteI am not a huge fan of spin, but you need to watch out when you go to find a bike as MANY people are quite possesive about which bike they use and use the same one week in and week out. Make sure you aren't taking anyone's bike! I could never go enough times in a row to not get the super sore butt feeling after class! Good luck!
Katie O
That's so exciting that you're training for your first full too! My 17 miler was awesome! That's funny that people are possesive over their bikes. Tonite I'll be taking another class, so we'll see how it goes! Thanks, Katie!
DeleteAhh, went to my first spin class in the spring. I was so, so sore! I don't think my bike was adjusted right either and those seats are just so uncomfortable. I was dripping sweat..it kicked my butt! That price you paid is AMAZING. So jealous! My roommate went to one last week and paid $15...yikes!
ReplyDeleteWow, $15 is cuhrazee!! I'm so glad I found it for so cheap! I'll be taking my 2nd class tonight, so hopefully readjusting the seat will help!
