I love it! As we all know, running is an escape at times from a crazy life. I love just going out there with my music and forgetting about everything for awhile. I love getting alone with my thoughts and the solitude. There's been times where I've even been glad that I'm alone, that way I don't slow down a running partner, or she slow me down, I can just do my own thing!
But lately, I've been feeling alone. Really alone. I wish I had someone to run with, someone to talk with for hours about running, nutrition, makeup, American Idol- whatever. Someone that could push me, and I'd do the same, someone who shares my passion and whom I can share the battle and beauty of the road with!

What about you? Would you rather run alone or with a buddy? Or both?
Tonight, I'm going to take my first Spin class! I can't wait!!

That all depends on the day. I ran with my bestie the other day and it was a lot of fun! But when I would talk and run at the same time I would get so out of breath! But it did help push through. Sometimes I do want to run it out with my own thoughts, though.
ReplyDeleteI'm not very good at running and talking at the same time either! At my half marathon a girl ran beside me for a few miles, and she did most of the talking! It definitely made time go by faster!
DeleteI'm in the same boat. I've always run alone (and I enjoy that alone time), but sometimes I wish I had someone to run with... I'd love to run a Disney half marathon, but doing that by myself doesn't seem nearly as fun as with a running friend. Good luck finding someone!
ReplyDeleteOh, I would love to run Disney too! But you're right, that is something to do with a friend, I wouldn't want to do that alone. Thanks, Traci!
DeleteI do both. I have a hard time alone when the long runs get into the big numbers! (over 12) I'm training for a marathon this summer so I will be joining a group training run mid summer. I also have a friend with whom I go running every now and then. The only thing is that she runs a little faster than I do but she runs with me when we go together and I feel bad about slowing her down. I run on Thursday evenings with an informal group run at the local running store and that is fun. In fact, it's time to get ready for running group!
ReplyDeleteJust keep asking at your gym. I hope you find your running buddy!
I don't mind my shorter runs alone, it is those long runs though, when it would be nice to run with someone to make time go by quicker! Thanks, Lorenda!
DeleteI feel the same way. I run alone but sometimes it would be nice to have someone to run and chat with.
ReplyDeleteI agree, and it would make time go by quicker too!!
DeleteI would SO love to have you for a running buddy if we lived closer! :) BOO for living in different states!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, though. I love the solitude of running alone. But there are times I seriously want the companionship of a friend to run with! I feel ya! :)
YOU are one of the ones I wish lived closer, I would love to run with you! Yep, I know what you mean!
DeleteMaybe we can plan a race (or marathon) to run together for next year! :) I am running a small town marathon here in Iowa in September for my first marathon! I have a feeling that I'm going to LOVE it, so I figure I'd do another marathon or two... or more! I don' t know about you, but I'm not running a marathon for time! I'm just doing them to say, "A marathon? Yeah! I did that! It was awesome!"
DeleteHi! I found your blog from Kim @ ilaxSTUDIO, and I'm so glad I did!
ReplyDeleteI feel your pain. I also want a good running partner, I wish I could find someone local who shares my passion for running! And I totally get the feeling like, "if that blogger lived closer, I'd sooooo be her running partner!!"
Oh well, maybe one day I'll find a running buddy. For now, I'll go out with my dog for short runs.
Good luck with your spin class!!
Hi! Thanks for stopping by, I can't wait to read your blog, I love your name!! Lol!
DeleteI think the same thing, am I the only one in my town who has a passion for running?? I hope you find someone soon too. When I had a dog, I took him with me a couple times, but he totally slowed me down. He was always stopping to sniff something or use the bathroom or something! So, that didn't work out very well.
Thanks, the spin class was awesome! Can't wait to do it again!
I like a little bit of both..sometimes its great to be by myself and then I don't have to worry about running to slow or fast for someone..if I want to stop I can..if I want to run longer I can..but sometimes it is just so much fun to run with someone else..you get to chat and forget about some of the miles you are running
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly it, time just goes by faster when you're running with someone! Although I do still enjoy my solo runs too.
DeleteI LOVE having my running buddy! I started day 1 with her and would not change it. We challenge and encourage each other and keep each other accountable. There are some times when we have to run alone and I do like those times too.
ReplyDeleteSee, that's what I want!! I think that would be awesome!
DeleteFound you on the Aloha blog hop. I have to say, I love running on my own. I think it's because it's the 1 hour or 2 I get to myself with no kids. I hope you liked spinning....I'm quite addicted. Tomorrow's agenda- bootcamp.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day.

Hi Kimberly! Thanks for stopping by. I love your blog!
DeleteI do love my solo runs too, I agree that it's a nice break from kids and the craziness of life. I loved spinning!! I can't wait to do it again!
Hey Katie I would love to introduce you too my 'runner kids' sometime. We are also in Ky, I'll keep my eye out for you!
ReplyDeleteThat would be awesome!
DeleteHi there,
ReplyDeleteStopping by from the hop, I love your blog and am a new follower :)
Hi Anna! Thanks so much! :)
DeleteI usually do the long runs with buddies, but I don't mind a run alone. I think having the option of both is nice. Sometimes I need to unload a lot of mental anxiety on a quiet run alone. I definitely hope you find a run buddy soon though - it brings a whole new meaning to the miles "flew by!" Spin is awesome. I go at least 1x a week :)
ReplyDeleteI don't mind doing my shorter runs alone, it's just those long runs that can get lonely. I agree, having a buddy to chat with would make the miles fly by!
DeleteOh, I loved Spin!! I'm going to start going once a week!
I run with friends more often than not. I've met some of my now really close friends through the running group I'm in. One friend and I do speed work together every week and it's been a great bonding experience! Maybe you could start a running group?
ReplyDeleteI think a running group would be the perfect way to make close friends, you'd have such a common bond! I hadn't thought about starting one...I like that idea. Not sure how I would do that, but I'll have to look into it!
DeleteI thought I was a lone runner....but during my marathon training I usually would do the long Saturday runs with my sister. We did not always stay together, or even have the same number of miles to do, but it was something different to break up the same thing.
ReplyDeleteThat's when it really gets lonely for me- those long runs. I think it's great that you don't feel pressured to stay together the whole time, just knowing she's there would definitely help!
DeleteHappy Friday!
ReplyDeletevisit and follow from blog hop.
Would be nice if you can visit and link up my Friday blog hop.
Have a great weekend.

Thank you! I'll do it! :)
DeleteSometimes I feel the same way, but it would be tough to match my schedule with that of someone else. I really lack in the running friends department though, so I mostly just annoy people when I talk about my passion for it.
ReplyDeleteHaha! I know I annoy people when I talk about it too. But it's our passion, and what we love- so how can we not talk about it?? That's one reason I started my blog, so I can talk about it all I want! :)
DeleteI'm not sure if a run buddy would be fun or not for me. When I run I usually go into a "deep thought" mode.I think the best would get someone that is way better than you at running and have them push you.
ReplyDeleteI am 50/50 on running.....I LOVE running by myself, it's so refreshing and it's definitely my 'me time'. Plus I don't have to worry about slowing my buddy down (because I'm a slow runner and everyone runs faster than I do!) or messing up their run if I have a problem.
ReplyDeleteBut on the other hand, I LOVE running with my sister and hopefully someday my spouse with run with me. :) Running with a buddy is always great because it pushes me to push myself even harder than I normally do and it's great accountability on the days when I am tempted to skip it!
I have often thought, dang, I wish Katie was my neighbor so we could run together!! I have a feeling we would have a blast- if I could keep up with your speediness!
I definitely enjoy my runs alone too, it's good 'thinking' time! Oh girl, I've thought too that I wish we lived closer and could run together. I am not speedy at all, I still consider myself a slow runner. Hopefully that'll change someday! We would totally have a blast!!
DeleteI'm Debi from Adorned From Above. We are now following from Aloha Friday's Party and would love to have you follow back. Here's the link.

Hi Debi! Thanks for stopping by! :)
DeleteWe would so totally do long runs together if we lived closer! Running races is a different story for me. I have to get in my zone and do that better alone. One exception: an ultra-marathon...because that one is not about any kind of pace goal. I haven't run a full ultra yet (am planning to this Dec) but I ran part of one with a friend who did the whole thing and it was so much fun! I tend to be slower than most of my running friends so we can talk lots but not run so much together. My one exception is Gary, who kindly slows down for me and joins me on some long runs occasionally. Come to Florida for vacay and let's run!
ReplyDeleteYes, we sure would! I would love to run with you, Jen. I didn't know you're planning on an ultra!! I have a feeling I might want to do one someday. I love FL, and would love to come visit sometime!
DeleteBest thing I did was join my running group! We meet just once a week, unless one or two of us decides we want to meet mid week for a run. Just enough for me to NOT be lonely. Especially when I am training for a race!!!
ReplyDeleteThat does sound perfect! I know there's a running group in a town 30 mins. from me, but I'd like something local. I'll have to look into that.
DeleteAs soon as I start running again, I'll SO be your running buddy! I can't wait for our get together!!
ReplyDeleteYay!! I would LOVE that! I can't wait either!!
DeleteI almost always run alone, but I'm like you. I'd really love to have a running partner.
ReplyDeleteIt would definitely make time go by quicker, even just once a week would help! Well, I hope you can find one too!
DeleteI go back and forth. I love long runs to think by myself, but I have bonded so much running with other people! Are there not many bloggers near you? :( How about a running club?
ReplyDeleteNo, there are not. Not that I've found anyway. Maybe I need to look some more!
DeleteThere is a running club about 30 mins from me, but I'd like to find something local. I guess I could look into starting one!
A running buddy is awesome, my BFF runs with me and we lift each other up on our down days!!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds so perfect!!
