Why I love to exercise

So, yesterday was one of those days.
Where you look at your life and think "wow, this isn't what I ordered." I never thought at 35 I'd be married, but not allowed to have a baby. Never thought I'd be married to a youth pastor. One of the hardest jobs in the entire world. I have to watch him tirelessy give of himself and yet all parents do is complain. Teenagers are teenagers and you get stabbed in the back, when you just think you're helping.
You feel alone. There's no one to call and go have a drink with. What happened to the life I thought I would be living??
In the past, I would've drowned this self pity in a gallon of ice cream. But not anymore!
I decided to go to spin class. There's just something about being in a dark room, working so hard you wonder if you'll make it, Skillet blaring, and sweat mixing with your tears- that makes life seem a little more bearable.
I've gotta say I felt so much better. If I had drowned my sorrows in ice cream, I would've felt even worse. That is one of the many reasons I love to exercise. It clears my head and helps me see things in a different light. It's good for the soul!

Let's move on to happy things now, shall we?
Tomorrow I'll be running 16 miles AND I'm going to see Wesley Korir at a local running store. He's the winner of the 2012 Boston Marathon and is a Louisville, KY native! I'm SO excited!
Also, go check out Rachel's blog, I am the guest blogger today!
Have a fabulous weekend!!

What is something you love about exercise?

  1. Girl, you could always call me for a drink. :) I'd cheat on the diet for that...no worries. I'm always there if you need an ear. I'm so sorry you were down yesterday. I hope you have a great run tomorrow!

  6. I am sorry that things really aren't what you had planned. I think that happens to all of us and it is tough to wrap your mind around sometimes. It kind of sneaks up on you when you are just kind of coasting through things.
I'd love to say that things will get better, and there is a reason for all that you are going through...
    BUT...
    You already know that.
    :)
You know that and that is why you are able to cope in a healthy (literally) way.
Things do work themselves out and I am glad you have a place to go and people to vent to.

  7. Totally agree - love how exercise is something that makes you feel better if you are feeling rubbish, and also makes you feel better if you are already feeling good! I have so much respect for Pastors, you and your husband are amazing! :)

  9. Youth Pastors, man oh man...what a tough job that is! Youth Pastor's Wife may be even harder though!! It can be so thankless at times and incredibly trying, but you guys are doing the LORD's work and for that I thank you both. Glad to hear you were able to sink all of that negativity into something positive!
