Bug Eyes and Medifast Week 1

Hello friends!

I usually only talk about my long runs here, so I thought I would share my workouts during the week. As you know, I'm training for the Chicago Marathon, and unfortunately my weekly runs just aren't what they're supposed to be! But I still feel very confidant that I'll be ready.
Monday I met my girlfriend at the park and we ran 2 hilly miles.
The crazy thing about this run was that a few times we had to stop so she could dig bugs out of my eyes! Haha! Isn't that disgusting? I eat bugs all the time as I'm running, but I've never had them fly into my eyes and get lodged there. Ewww! Only a true friend would get bugs out of your eyes for you.

Tuesday night I took a spin class.
Taking my first spin class a few months ago was one of the best things I've ever done! I love it! If you haven't taken one, YOU SHOULD!!

Last night I was planning on going to the track to run, but by the time I got there, it was almost dark and they were getting ready to lock it up. So, I came home and ran 3 on the good ol' treadmill.

Husby bought me a 64 oz. water jug! Honestly, I've had a hard time getting all my water in every day. I feel like I drink water all day long, but sometimes I do forget. And it's annoying to keep refilling my 16 oz bottle all day. So, he bought me this honkin jug! I just fill it up in the morning, and empty it by bedtime. So far, so good!
And last but not least, week 1 on Medifast was a success! 8 lbs gone, baby!! I'm on my way! I'm really not having a hard time at all. Well, the only hard thing has been giving up my ice cream. I'm definitely going through withdrawal. Kill me now!!

QOTD:
Have you ever gotten bugs in your eyes while running?
How much water do you drink every day?

I'm still $655 away from reaching my goal of $1000 for the Ronald McDonald House Charity, who I'm running for in the Chicago Marathon! Please go here to support me and these precious children. Thank you!

  1. Gross, I get bugs in my eyes, too! It's the worst, especially when I'm wearing contacts.

Haha that's a HUGE water bottle! I remember my chem TA had one just like that. BTW I'm visiting Louisville in Oct for dental school. I really want to go there!

  3. I got a bug in my eye three weeks ago and it bit me on my lower lid. It got really big and full of pus. It's almost gone now. I drink around 40 oz of water, but I also eat a lot of fruit and vegetables that give me all the liquid I need. I go by the color of my pee to check for dehydration. You'll do great at Chicago!

  4. Wow! 8lbs is amazing! I have never heard of this Medifast diet but it sounds like a good one! I have had bugs in my eyes before and it was just a couple weeks ago. Before that, it had never happened. It is gross and oh so uncomfortable!

    1. Thanks Rhoda! It is a great one. You order their food, and have 5 MF meals a day, and then you provide your own Lean & Green meal. (Protein and veggie) It is kind of expensive though. But it'll be worth it!
      Yes, it is so gross!!

  5. I have not had bugs in my eyes, but I have had them down my shirt! I had to fish one out from between the girls one time. So embarassing!! And my water goal daily is at least 3 of my 24 oz cup (so 72 oz) usually I hit that, sometimes more. I have a feeling today is going to be an over day.

  6. If I run down near a local river in the morning, I have gotten bugs in the eyes.. So not a fun thing! Now when I see their swarms, I just close my eyes and hold my breath until I get past them, yucky pests!
I go through spurts with water, sometimes I'll be doing great and then other times not so good. I really need to get better at this one!
Congrats on your 8lbs, Way AWESOME!!! I think you're going to do great in your marathon coming up!

  7. Your water jug is HUGE! :)I definitely don't drink enough water...it makes me feel nauseous! I tend to drink other things such as coconut pineapple icee and a lot of English tea (which is made from water so doesn't that count?!) I have had to get the bugs out of my eye too! Can't wait to read your post Chicago marathon blog! Oh..btw, I splurged and had a big bowl of chocolate ice cream Sunday night! I held back though and used "some" restraint :)

  9. Ya I've also experienced the bugs in the eyes...it is awful. I was munching on bugs the other day on my run and got to thinking that I should enter 'insects' as a food in MyFitnessPal...sure enough it was listed! No nutritional value though, unfortunately :)

That is an enormous water jug...that's the same size as a pitcher of beer (beer or water...hmmm...what would I choose?)

    Chicago is one month today!!!!!!

    1. No way!! That's hilarious that insects are a food in MFP!!
Good question...if only beer was as good for you as water. Lol! One more month!!

    1. Yes she is, and yes you do!! I really haven't posted much about Medifast. It's a plan where you order their food. You eat 5 of their meals a day and then one of your own, which is a Lean & Green (a protein and veggie). I really like it! I miss you girl!! You need to come back to the blogging world!!

  12. Bugs in the eyes suck! Ha! I got one in my ear once, that was weird :/ As for water, I just drink to thirst now after reading the book Water Logged by Timothy Noakes. Great read! And I'm sure you will be great for Chicago!
