Wisconsin, Cows & more Froyo

Last night I got to go running with a girl I haven't ran with before. In fact, she's never ran before. She asked me to show her how it's done!
So we downloaded the Couch 2 5k app, and started with that. It was awesome being there at the start of her journey- that I remember so well. This program has you walk for 90 seconds, and run for 90 seconds. And I SO remember when I started out, being out of breath, barely making it the full 90 seconds, at the end of it, feeling like you just ran a marathon.
She asked me if this was how I started, I said yes. I told her someday she could run a marathon too, to which she replied "in my dreams!"  We're going to start running together once a week, I'm so excited for her!!

After my Chicago Marathon I went to Wisconsin to visit my sister, her hubby and my precious, sweet, adorable nephew Rainor. I just cannot get enough of his adorableness!

And his pretty Momma!

While I was there we went to a dairy farm to get some raw milk from their grass fed organic cows. I had never tried raw milk before and it was delicious!
Grilled sweet potatoes, steak and green beans.
Thanking them for the steak the night before.
(And apologizing too, of course. I can't help it.)

The calves started licking my brothers knee, and I have never seen him laugh so hard! Anytime I need cheering up, I just look at these pictures!

My brother and I went to the Eisenbahn trail for a 3 mile run. For the first time ever, he ran a full mile nonstop. So proud of my little bro!!

I had an awesome time, it was the perfect way to recover from a bad marathon!
Mid sneeze!!

Orange Leaf just happened to be next to the gas station where I was filling up, on my way home. Totally a coincidence. Really.
My BIL said I should change the name of my blog to "From ice cream to marathon, and back to ice cream."
 Haha! He's so funny.

QOTD:
 Have you had raw milk?

What's your fave froyo flavor? (This one is mine, pumpkin and cheesecake. Yummm!)

  1. I have never had raw milk! But I watched a documentary about it and I would LOVE to try some! I live in Iowa! You'd think I would've found some by now! :)

And since I live in Iowa, we don't have things like Orange Leaf! I have to buy my froyo from the store. I really like the Ben & Jerry's froyo, Half Baked! Which is Chocolate & Vanilla Low Fat Frozen Yogurts with Fudgey Brownies & Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough! SOOOO delicious! It's only 720 calories for the whole pint, versus the normal Half Baked "ice cream", which is 1,120 calories! It's a shame that it's so darn expensive!

    1. I am surprised you've never had raw milk! I'm wondering if I can find a place to get it here in KY.
Oh you poor thing. Ok, I could never move to IA. I couldn't live without it! I've never tried B&J's froyo! That is definitely on my list now!

    1. Haha! I am proud of it, for sure. Maybe I shouldn't say 'bad'. Disappointing is more accurate.

  6. I have never had raw milk but I grew up drinking Goat's milk and have never been able to get used to the flavour of Cow's milk. With Froyo, I tend to stick to the neutral flavour so that I can add lots of choclatey toppings. That pumpkin and cheesecake sounds delish though, I would def try that one.

  8. what a great way to recover from a marathon!
I didn't have milk that wasn't straight from the barn (we had our own cow) until I was 13........I have a hard time drinking the store bought stuff! :)
my favorite froyo flavors are either peanut butter or coffee!

  9. I really liked the caramel fro yo I had in Chicago. Around here we have those self serve fro yo places where you make it yourself and they weigh it and charge by the ounce. It's a good thing the closest one is 45 minutes away in a town I am not in that often! I like to get a combination of vanilla and cake batter and smother it in caramel!
I don't drink milk. I don't like the look of it or the smell of it either. When I cook with it I have to hold my breath while I pour it into a measure cup.

  11. I'm glad you had such a great visit with your family in Wisconsin - your nephew is precious!! I don't drink milk hardly - I've had an occassional chocolate milk post-half/long run, but that's about it. I haven't had fro yo in forever! We used to go all the time, and now I think we must be burned out on it. My favorite is cake batter though - YUM!
