3 Things Thursday

1. I just recently tried Honey Stinger gels for the first time. Oh. My. Gosh. They are deelish. The bad thing is, I haven't even tried them during a run yet, because they're so good I eat them like candy! I normally use GU's during my runs, but I think I've found a new favorite.

2. Cauliflower Quinoa Cakes Fail
I love cooking, and I love trying new, healthy things. So when I found this recipe, I thought it sounded great! Yea, well...mine didn't turn out quite like hers.
The taste wasn't terrible, but I only took a few bites, and threw it all away. I posted about it on my facebook page, and after talking to Sue, realized that I probably didn't drain the cauliflower enough, and it was too watery. They should've been more of a cake like consistency and they seemed more like pancakes. I don't think I'll be making these again anyway.

3. The kids are out of school AGAIN! This weather has just been crazy. On top of all the snow, we got ice a couple days ago. Why can't it be this beautiful, AND be warm?? Haha!

Don't forget that tomorrow is National Wear Red Day! Clarinda, from Enjoying the Course and I are co-hosting a little linky party to celebrate - Wear Red Selfies. Be sure and stop back by tomorrow to share your selfie and why you're wearing red. For more information on heart disease and National Wear Red Day, visit goredforwomen.org.

What do you use for fuel during your long runs?
Tell me something about your Thursday!

  1. I like Hammer gels, Montana Huckleberry and the Espresso are my favorites. For really long runs, I take a Clif bar too. Sorry your cauliflower patties didn't turn out.

    1. I'd rather have chewy fruity things than chocolate! I've heard so much about the salted caramel ones, definitely need to try them.

  6. I need to try those gels! I've never found a fuel that was good enough to eat when I wasn't running, so I'll have to give those a go.

    1. I love gummy bears. I don't think I could eat those only as fuel though, I'd be eating them all the time! Can't wait to see your new dress!

  10. I've never tried Honey Stingers... I've basically just always used GU and NUUN to power through runs... I'm guilty of eating a chocolate GU gel for a snack before! ;)

  12. I use the Honey Stinger chews, absolutely love them and won't use anything else. The only ones that don't give me tummy issues! Check out my post about the cauliflower pizza crust, it will give you an idea of how to get rid of the water and what the cauliflower will look like after you squeeze it out! http://thismamarunsforcupcakes.blogspot.com/2014/01/the-wicked-good-cauliflower-pizza-crust.html
