Keep calm and countdown

I finally got to sit down today, and I log on to watch the Boston Marathon finish line. I missed seeing Meb win, but I'm SO happy that he did! It's been over 30 years since an American won! This was definitely a good year for that to happen.

My twinnie knew I needed to fuel up for my race this weekend, so she brought me one of her lemon drop cupcakes. This was seriously amazing.

I remember before I ever ran my first marathon, I found finish line videos on youtube, and got tears in my eyes watching the runners! It was then I knew I wanted to run a marathon.

This weekend was the Ky Derby mini and marathon. I had so many friends running it, but I was a spectator this time and got to hang out with Amanda's kiddo's. It was incredible watching everyone running to the finish line. But it did feel strange not running with them!

In other news...

5 MORE DAYS until I run 100 miles. I am terrified, but excited. All at the same time.
I understand if y'all want to quit reading for the next few days because I will probably be a basket case!!

For so long this day seemed like it was forever away. And now it's almost here.
I can't wait! I will run (or walk) every single mile. Nothing will stop me. The pain of quitting would be worse than the pain I will be going through, so I will not stop.

Have you ever been a spectator at a race, instead of a runner?
What did you do this weekend?

  4. I LOVE lemon cake. Would actually take lemon or carrot over other flavors any day. Her cupcakes always look amazing.

  7. I volunteer at a triathlon every year. It is strange to not be the one out there sweating and hurting. I tend to feel a bit guilty.
The weekend - 8 miles on Saturday morning and a quick 3 mile run between church and Easter dinner with a bunch of relatives who must have too much time on their hands because they cook way too much food!

    1. Aughhh thanks girl!
Yes, spectating definitely made me want to run more. So much, that I just had to stop at a park on my way home and get in 5 miles. :)
