Marathon training...again

Well, I am back to marathon training again!
In September I'll be running the Air Force marathon. Which will be marathon #5. (That is so crazy, I never thought I would run even 1!)
I'm so excited about this race. It's actually on the air force base, which will be so cool!

Honestly, after my disastrous half on Saturday, I had decided I was going to downgrade to the half, instead of the full. I decided marathons were out of my life forever. I was going to have to change my name to "From ice cream to half marathon"
Isn't it funny the crazy things we tell ourselves when we're feeling down?
I actually went to the website, with every intention to switch, and then saw the half was sold out.

Yep, that was my sign. So I sucked it up and decided to stick with the full marathon. And now I'm so glad I didn't change it.

Let the training commence!
For all of my marathons I've followed Runkeeper's training plan. So, that's what I'll be doing again.

I love being back on a plan and following a schedule with my running. I do much better when I'm following a plan.

So, sorry guys, but from now on you'll have to hear all about my marathon training!!

What's your next race?
Do you follow a training plan or do it on your own?

  1. I've done 5 Halfs, have numbers 6-8 and first marathon planned for the rest of the year.

I started with Hal Higdon's plans using Jeff Galloway's methodology. Now that I'm a stronger runner, I'm using McMillan's training process.

  4. I am running four half marathons this fall. The first is September 7 (my birthday!!!!!!!) in Chicago and will just be my last long run for my goal race two weeks later, Sept. 21, Women Run the D, an all women's half in Detroit, MI. Then, just for the fun of it, the Detroit International Half on Oct. 19. The last one is Nov. 16 in Vegas with my sister in law who I ran Chicago with but we lost each other so we're going to try it again with a half marathon since we were still side by side at the half point in Chicago.
I've used Hal Higdon plans but I'm not sure what I'm going to use for this fall. I guess I need to hurry up and figure it out!

  5. Oops, I also wanted to say that even if you never run another, you wouldn't have to change the name of your blog because you have run 4 marathons so you did go "to Marathon". Not every race can be a marathon. (unless your name is Dean Karnazes!)

  7. My next race is the VABeach half. I am off marathons for the year while my body heals so that I will hopefully be able to run injury and pain free soon.
I cannot wait to hear all about your training, we are always cheering you on.

  15. I'll be at the Air Force Marathon in Sept., too! It will be my third time running it. I grew up in Dayton. It is always nice to go back somewhere familiar. The course is pretty good - fairly flat. The majority of the course is pretty quiet because it is mostly run on base, but running through Fairborn is a lot of fun. I'm doing a combo of Runner's World and Hal Higdon Training plans. My next race, though, is the Bluegrass 10K in Lexington, KY. That is an annual race for me, and I love it! Good luck in your training!
