Giveaway winner and finally a long run!

Thanks to everyone who entered my giveaway. Congrats to the winner, Christie!!

Saturday morning I did my first long run in months! Oh, it was amazing.
Peanut butter jelly time! (A pre-long run ritual)
I got a little bit of a late start, so by mile 6 the sun was out and was brutal. I did the last few miles on a trail, so I could run in the shade.I was definitely exhausted when it was over, but was so excited to be able to run 10 miles again.

Last night I went for a short, night run. I don't like running alone in the dark, so that's why I only did 2 miles. But I just HAD to do something!

The Twinnie and I, and my adorable nieces and nephew went to a concert over the weekend. SO much fun!
Yep, I wore an orange shirt, and she wore an orange and white shirt. It seems almost every time we get together, we are color coordinated or even wearing the very same colors. We always say we share a brain because we're SO alike!

What do you eat before a long run?
Do you like running at night?
(I would if I was with a group!)

If I'd gone to college

I am happy to report that I went on a 6 mile run a couple days ago. Pain free!
My Dr said I can ease back into running. 6 miles is easing back, right? Tomorrow I'm planning on 10 miles. Of course I'll be smart about it and if my ankle starts to hurt, I'll stop.

It's going to be amazing to run long again!! I can't put into words how much I miss my long runs.

Now that Fall is here (yay!) I packed up all my running tanks, and got out my winter running clothes. Sad to see summer go though.

Have you tried this gum yet? They are actually really good! Unfortunately, the flavor only lasts for about 5 minutes.
I am still looking for a job, and am just about interviewed out! I am now a pro at interview's. I have one more this morning.
I've gotten a few offers, so hopefully next week I'll have a job.
One thing I've realized through all of this is that I really wish I had gone to college. If I could go back and live my life over, I would go to school either to be a TV news anchor, or an FBI agent. Yes I know, huge differences.
I was one of those girls who just figured I would get married and have kids, so I didn't really even consider college. But life doesn't always go according to plan...
But it is what it is and I can't wait to see what's in store!

Did you go to college?
Packed up your summer clothes yet?

Spectating the Air Force Marathon

This weekend Julie and I went to Dayton, OH for the Air Force Marathon. She ran the half, and I was scheduled for the full. After getting advice from all of you (thank you, btw!!) and my ortho Dr., I knew the smartest thing to do was sit this one out. As much as I wanted to, I just couldn't take a chance on getting injured worse.

We left Friday afternoon and after hours of construction and rush hour traffic, we made it to the expo and picked up our packets. We then were able to eat and relax at B-Dubs.

Had to try on my shirt and hat. I was only pouty for a few minutes, promise! (And yes, I got to use my beer coupon)

We woke up at 6 Saturday morning and headed to the race. For some reason I had the same nerves and butterflies, as if I was running! After parking we walked about a mile to the start line. It was a beautiful morning.

At 8:30 the gun went off, and off they went. I definitely was holding back tears off and on the next couple hours. They were good tears though! I walked around the memorial park for awhile, and then went back to the finish line. It was awesome seeing the marathon winner coming in.
Overall winner- 2:28 AMAZING

This precious little girl was cheering on her mommy.
I had to get away from them fast. Way too hard on me.
Here comes Julie!

I gotta tell ya, standing at that finish line, cheering for everyone was an unbelievable experience that I think everyone needs to do at least once. You see SO many different emotions coming across that line. Some people look miserable and half dead, some people are wiping away tears, some people have the biggest smile on their faces, some dance, some skip- it's such a beautiful thing to watch!!
So proud of her!

YUM. That pretty much sums it up.
Sometimes you just need a fun, crazy girls weekend! I'm not sure if I'll be back next year to do this race or not. But it definitely seemed like an excellent race that everyone enjoyed.

What emotion do you usually have at the finish line?
I've cried, couldn't stop smiling and been the miserable one!
Have you spectated a race before?

Final decision is made

I didn't think my Ortho Dr would return my call, but he did this morning.

When I asked him what he thought about me running the marathon tomorrow, this was his reply: "did you really just ask me that??"

Needless to say, he does not think it's a good idea. He said it's too soon, and I would probably be back where I was when all this started- in pain again.

He said he is fine with me easing back into running though, just taking it slow and stopping if it hurts.

So, I will not be running the marathon tomorrow. While I am disappointed, I have no doubt that's the right choice. But I am very happy and excited that I can start running again. A few weeks ago I thought I wouldn't run again until next year, so I am very thankful for that!

I can't wait to cheer on Julie and the rest of the runners tomorrow, and run it myself next year!

I ran today and I have a dilemma!

Yep, I sure did. For the first time in almost 6 weeks, I went for a run.
In case you are new here and don't know, I tore my peroneal tendon a couple months ago. I am supposed to wear my boot for 6 weeks, and then in the middle of October, go back to the ortho and possibly schedule surgery to repair it.

However, for the last 2 weeks, I have had no pain at all. I just woke up one day and all the pain and soreness was gone.
So today I decided to 'test' it out, and go for a run. Pretty sure that was the best run I've ever been on. I may have shed a few tears when it was over too. My ankle didn't hurt one time.

Here's my dilemma: I am scheduled to run the Air Force Marathon Saturday. I'm sure you guys know how BADLY I've been wanting to do this.

Right now, I feel like I can do it. No, I haven't been able to train. My last long run was 12 miles, 2 months ago. But this also isn't my first marathon, it's #5. (Not that that makes training any less important)

My Dr is supposed to be calling me back, I definitely want his opinion too.

Even if it takes me 7 hours, even if I DNF, I still want to do it!

I'll still be there either way. Julie is running the half, so we're leaving for Dayton tomorrow afternoon. It's just a question of am I just going to cheer her on, or will I run too?

What would you do? Am I being stupid and I need to let it go, or should I just take the chance?

Get Your Run On Giveaway!

Happy Monday!!

My weekend was filled with job interviews,
Riding with my stepson for the first time since getting his drivers permit.
Terrified does not began to describe it. And he was driving my car!!
Thankfully, his dad taught him well and he really did a good job. Scary, none the less!

And going to Julie's house and hanging out with her and Karie for a Sex and the City party. Julie makes some ridiculous peach bellini's and margarita's. Love those girls!

The best part of my weekend? I had a dream that I ran for the first time in 5 weeks. I ran 2, pain free miles. AND they were 9 minute miles, which has never happened. I wanted to cry when I woke up and realized it was a dream. I just don't know if I can go 3 or 4 months without running. But I'm trying not to think about that.

I am linking up with Kristy for the Get your run on Giveaway Hop! This means there are lots of other bloggers giving away running stuff too. So, click on the link below and enter their giveaways, after entering mine!

Dontcha hate it when...

Dontcha hate it when...

1. You spend over $100 at Old Navy, only to get home and realize you had a coupon for $30 off you didn't use.

2. You start a new job and find out they mislead you on the hours you would be working. There's a big difference between 40 and 60!
Now you're back to sending out resumes and going on interviews again.

3. You go to the store for one thing and come home with many things. But forgot to get the one thing.

4. You buy a pretty bike...
...and realize after walking it up too many hills, that this single gear bike isn't going to work.
So you return it and buy a bike with 21 gears...
Then you find out the gears don't work right.
So you decide the bike shop owner was correct when he said "buying a bike at a department store is like buying a computer at a gas station". So you return bike #2 and save your pennies for a 'real' bike.

I have many more, but that's it for now!
Do you have a "dontcha hate it when" moment you can share?

Mount Adams and a return to the gym.

This weekend Jeremy and I went to Cincy to celebrate our 8th anniversary. (Which is today!)

Sunday we went on a walking tour of Mt Adams, Ohio.
I love history, so it was really neat hearing all about this historic, beautiful town. This is the kind of town I would love to live in. Gorgeous, old town homes, cafes, bar and grilles, art museum, a playhouse, conservatory, a beautiful park, etc. I loved this town!

School built in the 1800's

What a view from the top!!

I want a house with a rooftop deck!
One interesting story was about a tavern there in town.
In the 50's, there was a customer that went there every night and would just drink tequila. And every single night he would get drunk, start fights, and destroy the place. And every night he would get kicked out and told not to return. But he kept coming back and drinking tequila and causing a ruckus.
Finally the owner said maybe if he quits selling tequila there, that customer won't come back. So he quit selling it, and the customer never returned.
That customers name was Charles Manson. Crazy, isn't it?! That bar still doesn't serve tequila to this day.

It was an amazing little town. If you're ever in the area, I highly recommend the tour!

When we got to the hotel, I realized I forgot my running shoes! No, I can't run, but I was planning on going to the gym. But I didn't let that stop me!

It's been ages since I've been in a gym, and I realized how much I miss it! I really want to join one now.

View from our hotel. Fireworks after the Reds game.
