Giveaway winner and finally a long run!

Thanks to everyone who entered my giveaway. Congrats to the winner, Christie!!

Saturday morning I did my first long run in months! Oh, it was amazing.
Peanut butter jelly time! (A pre-long run ritual)
I got a little bit of a late start, so by mile 6 the sun was out and was brutal. I did the last few miles on a trail, so I could run in the shade.I was definitely exhausted when it was over, but was so excited to be able to run 10 miles again.

Last night I went for a short, night run. I don't like running alone in the dark, so that's why I only did 2 miles. But I just HAD to do something!

The Twinnie and I, and my adorable nieces and nephew went to a concert over the weekend. SO much fun!
Yep, I wore an orange shirt, and she wore an orange and white shirt. It seems almost every time we get together, we are color coordinated or even wearing the very same colors. We always say we share a brain because we're SO alike!

What do you eat before a long run?
Do you like running at night?
(I would if I was with a group!)

  1. Yay, your injury must really be on the complete mend! I think taking such a proactive approach as you did is the reason you're back to running and 10 milers at that. Very happy for you!!!!

    1. Yes, we're identical twins! After 6 weeks off from running, my ankle feels completely better. So my dr said I can ease back into it. It has been wonderful! Thanks Sheetal!

  3. Depending on what time I leave, I don't like to eat before a long run. Maybe a banana, but normally nothing. I know I'm in the minority lol. I hate running in the dark, I went for a run this morning at 630am and it was so dark - I swear last week it was light outside ;)

    1. I've found a lot of people don't eat before a long run! I have to or my stomach will cramp.
Oh, I know it. A week ago I could run outside at 8pm and it was light! Not anymore. (And it's just going to get worse too!)

  4. So glad you are getting some runs in WITHOUT pain! I'm also excited I won your giveaway, can't wait to rock my new shirt. :) I don't eat much before a long run, eating hurts my tummy before a run. I might have a Kelloggs cereal bar, just nothing heavy. I don't run at night, I've always been a morning runner, but never do it to early where it's dark and I'm alone. YOU SHOULDN'T do it either!!

    1. I'm so excited you won too! When your name popped up I did a little happy dance. :)
I never run at night alone, except for last night. I'm too big of a chicken! Hopefully it won't happen again!

  5. So crazy (in a good way) how much better your injury is! I would prefer to eat nothing before a run but that's not really realistic for long runs so I'll have a piece of peanut butter toast or an egg. I've been trying to train my sensitive stomach to be able to handle pre-run food better. It's an annoying problem to have!

    1. I know Tracy, it's totally crazy. I thought I wouldn't be running again until next year! I know a lot of people don't eat before long runs. I have to have something on my stomach though. I hope you can get it figured out soon!

    1. That sounds very dangerous! This was in a park that had some lights, so it wasn't too bad.
