After a very stressful drive into Chicago (I thought driving in downtown Louisville was stressful, but it doesn't even compare!!) I met Michelle at the hotel and we walked over to a Mexican restaurant for marg's. It was so good and MUCH needed!
After relaxing for awhile we walked around downtown, went into a few stores, and then went to Weber Grill for our dinner reservation. If you're ever in Chicago, go there!! It was delicious. (Make a reservation though, otherwise you'll have a long wait)

Sunday morning we walked down to the Navy Pier. It was awesome seeing everything 'in person', instead of only in pictures!
We rode the ferris wheel, which was AMAZING! It was a little scary at the top though...

What a view! |
We saw LOTS of runners out. Probably most of whom will be running the marathon next weekend. I gotta say, it made me really wish I was running it! Maybe next year...
And of course we ended the trip with Pinkberry. It was heaven. Seriously.
I LOVE Chicago! This was my first time really getting to see the city. Of course I ran through it last year for the marathon, but I was so sick and miserable that I didn't even look around or enjoy it. Then I left when the race was over, so didn't do any sight seeing.
I can't wait to go back! Although next time I think I'll fly, rather than drive. ;)
And hanging out with Michelle was a blast. Getting to spend time with her confirmed what I already knew, she is a precious, sweet girl, who is an incredible friend. I wish Canada wasn't so far from Kentucky. Can't wait to plan our next adventure!
Have you been to Chicago?
Did you run or race this weekend?

oh my gosh it looks like you guys had a blast! so jealous. I am from Sydney as you know and I can't handle driving in any downtown traffic, Sydney or Louisville they're all the same! that food looks beyond amazing, I am gonna go there when we go back (one day) for sure!
ReplyDeleteProbably if I drove downtown more often, I could get used to it. Oh well, it was definitely worth it. Can't wait for you to go back either!
DeleteWhat a fun weekend! I love Chicago, but I may be a little biased, since it is my hometown! We ate at Weber Grill after the RnR half last summer and it was amazing. I hope we get back to Chicago soon - I miss it!
ReplyDeleteI didn't know that was your hometown! I can't wait to go back again and do some more exploring!
DeleteI want to go there so badly!!!!
ReplyDeleteIf you go through the chaos of Downtown Louisville - honk for me :)
Have you been? You definitely need to go!! I'll honk for you next time I have to drive downtown! ;)
Deletei NEED! to go visit chicago now! great pics! Drove through on my road trip but had no time to stop :(

I was so glad I had a chance to walk around and really explore the city. I hope you get to go soon!
DeleteI've never been to Chicago, but one day:) Maybe even for the marathon???? Your pictures look fabulous, make me wish I could take a fun trip with a friend this week, looks like great times!!!
ReplyDeleteI didn't race this weekend:( But I did hit a 8 miler, so for me that is almost as much of a happy dance as being able to enter a race right now:)
I'm surprised with all your travels, you haven't been! Wanna run the marathon with me next year? Yes?
DeleteI know the feelin- woohoo on 8 miles!!
I drive in the awful mess that is bridge contruction traffic in downtown Lville every day. 2016 can't get here soon enough. And that little ferris wheel on Navy Peer is where my now husband proposed to me!
ReplyDeleteOh, I can't imagine driving in that mess every day!! That's awesome that your husband proposed to you on the ferris wheel. As we were riding it, I was thinking this would be a great place for a proposal!
DeleteSo cool that you and Michelle were able to spend the weekend together!!!
ReplyDeleteSounds like y'all had a great time.
And - I would have been scared at the top of the Ferris wheel for sure.
We did have a great time. It was a little scary at the top, especially since it was already a windy day! But I would definitely ride it again.
