I want my flip flops back!

Last night we got our first snow and the kids first snow day from school. We got 4 inches!
You'll never hear me complain about the summer heat- give me 100 degree days all summer. But you will hear me complain about the snow and the cold. I was not made for this!
I lived in Sarasota, FL for awhile, about 10 years ago. I often kick myself for ever leaving!!
Oh well, I'll try to keep my complaining to a minimum. :)
This is SO me!!
This weekend I ran the Indatus 5k, in Louisville. I knew it was going to be cold, but not that cold. A friend who was going to run with me cancelled because of the cold, so I was THISCLOSE to backing out too.
Then my Facebook friends came to the rescue! Everyone said I need to just do it. So, I did.
It was freezing, but I didn't even notice the cold when I was running. I wore 3 layers, a long sleeve shirt, a jacket and a vest- and that was perfect.

I had so much fun, I came home and signed up for the Turkey Trot 5k next Saturday!

Chestnut Praline Latte definitely warmed me up

Do you like running in the snow?

  1. I'm DYING to go out and run before all the snow melts! But it's TRX night so that won't be happening. I know I'm on my own with this ;)

  2. I agree, I'm over the cold. No snow in MD where I'm at just cold freezing rain-bleh!

  3. I love snow, but I'm a northerner by birth so it reminds me of good times and family. Props on getting out there and running a chilly 5k! Great job!

  4. I'm a fair weather runner...unless I signed up for a race. I'm doing the Girls on the Run 5K this weekend and another 5K for Thanksgiving...and a friend talked me into doing one December 13th! At least the on in December has a VIP tent with heaters. I happily paid extra for that. :) Great job on your race!

    1. I try not to sign up for any races from Dec-Feb! But I probably would consider it for those heaters. That doesn't sound bad at all!

  5. I am glad you did the race, sounds like it was worth it!!!
We had our first snow this weekend as well, I don't mind the snow, but after the snow we got some unusual for this time of year freezing temps in the teens and I don't like those as much, I could have waited for January for that kind of cold:)
Truthfully, I love running in the snow, in fact a winter night run when the snow is falling is my favorite!!

  6. I am not quite sure I'm ready for winter yet either! 50-60F running temps are perfect I think, and 80F for an afternoon suits me fine :)

Looks like your training is going super!! Way to get back into it. I bet you will have a great time at the 5k!

  7. I've never lived anywhere where it snows. Every time I consider moving out of the South West, I start to think about how much I don't know about functioning in an area like that! Winter clothing, taking care of a car, taking care of a home...it's all alien to me. I'd need a winter life tutor! Keep warm and think warm thoughts!

  8. We got some light snow here this morning, but not enough to close schools though, thankfully. Great job on your 5K in the cold. Mine was cold too, but like you said, once you are running, you don't even really notice. We are running our annual Thanksgiving morning race this year too. It's always so much fun!

  13. I don't like running in the cold, period. I'm such a wuss, I would rather run a half marathon on a treadmill than run outside in the cold.

    1. That sounds just like me, Sue. I despise the cold. If it's just a 5k, I feel like at least I can get it over with quickly. Anything longer than that- no thank you!
