A wedding shower and the sweetest nephews

In less than 2 months, the last of my 6 sisters will be getting married. This weekend we had her wedding shower!
I have some uber talented sisters, sister in law, and niece, and they decorated everything in an Italian theme.

Yes, that is my twinnie's cake. Strawberries and champagne flavor. SO good.

My sister from Wisconsin and her hubby and boys were in town. I can't get enough of Bob-Bob (Robert), my nephew. He has these massive cheeks, I could kiss him all day. This precious boy has been through SO much in his short life. Numerous surgeries (and another one in a couple weeks), living in the hospital for many months when he was born, and so much more. Now his adoption is almost final, and he has more love than he can handle. He is such a happy, joyful little boy!

Saturday's long run was supposed to be 20 miles. Due to the business that was my weekend, that didn't happen. All I did was 3 miles.

I'm still seriously considering switching my marathon on the 18th, to the half. But I can't decide for sure. I keep going back and forth, and it's killin me!
I've talked to a couple good friends about it and they both suggest I just do the half...but I don't know! I have to decide in the next couple days.

One last picture. It's been awhile since I've posted one of my sweet Xavi, my new nephew...
That was his expression after my sister told him I wasn't coming to see him that day. Broke my heart!

For the first time, I'm linking up with my sweet friend Tara!

What did you do this weekend?

  2. Holy cow, Katie! SIX sisters?!? I had no idea! I love these pics from the shower; y'all must have had a great time. Everything looks absolutely wonderful and I'm sure she really enjoyed it; with seven of you, this must be easy peasy now - ha! Well, I think you're just going to have to go with your gut on this marathon business; if you're not feeling it, don't push it, right? I feel like I do much better, mentally, when I feel confident going into a long effort like that; if you think it's going to be a struggle that you're just not looking forward to, well...there's ALWAYS another race! Thanks so much for linking up with the blog today and I'm so glad you had a great weekend; keep us posted!!

    1. Yes! And 2 brothers! :)
I agree about the race. I think this is too great of a distance to go into it not being confidant. Maybe I'll try to find a marathon in the fall instead. Thank you for the link up! :)

  3. ahhh - look at that face :)
Oh gosh - I hate that feeling of not knowing what to do - switching it up or keeping it the same. It's the inner fights we have with ourselves. As long as you do ANY of it, you're a ROCK STAR!!!

  7. Oh wow, that bridal shower set up is beautiful and that food looks amazing!!! I can honestly say, I never did anything that nicely done for any of my sisters LOL
Tough decision on the race, but I think you'll make the right one. Maybe if you can get at least an 18 miler in this weekend, that will make 3 right and then you have next week to get another 18 for a fourth, if you can find the time I think you'll be ready by the 18th to pull off the full. But either way full or half I am sure you will have a great time!!!!

  10. I agree with what others are saying. Go with your gut about the race distance. There will be many more marathons in the future... And I couldn't imagine running that far feeling reluctance...

    1. That's true, there will always be more marathons. I do feel like my head is not in the 'right' place for a full marathon. Thanks Annette. :)
