Going cold turkey

Because of the name of my blog, it's pretty obvious that I love ice cream.
Not just love it, but LOVE it.

Many, many years ago I would eat ice cream for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Seriously. That is it.
I would buy a tub of Blue Bell, and eat nothing else. Horrific, isn't it? But that's been years ago. Years.

(Thank God for running!)

So, when I got this email from BB a few days ago, I was quite saddened!

Noooo! The only ice cream I ever buy is being taken off the shelves!
I know it's only temporary, but how will I ever survive?

Ok, I'm only joking. I'm not that obsessed.

Then I started thinking, this could be a blessing in disguise. What better way to break an addiction, then go cold turkey.
So that's what I'm doing. I don't know when it'll be back on the shelves, but maybe by that time I will have lost so much weight from not eating it, that my craving will be gone.

Tomorrow I'll be running half  #12, the KY Derby Mini. This will be my first time running back to back half's. (2 weekends in a row)
The weather will be interesting...100% chance of showers and thunderstorms, some severe. Bring it on!

Have a lovely weekend, my friends!

Have you ever had to quit something cold turkey?
Who else is racing this weekend?

  1. I hope you enjoy the Derby Half. ... hope the weather does not get severe. Be careful! I was impressed that Blue Bell sent you a personal email. I think most people were told in the media. Must be some customer!! :)

  2. Good luck tomorrow! I don't mind running in rain so much. Good rain jacket and a ball cap. You'll be good to go!

  3. I had some fruit bars from the same company that I didn't take any chances with & tossed.
Good luck tomorrow!!! Cant wait to hear your recap!

  4. I love Blue Bell and will buy more of their ice cream when they declare the all safe, no matter how long I have to wait.

  5. That does seem like an unfortunate sign from the ice cream gods. Losing my two favorites, Blue Bell and Jeni's, is horrible! Good luck with your "cold turkey" experiment and with your next half.

  6. Caramel turtle cheesecake sounds so yummy! I've just discovered the yumminess of blue bell and they had to take it off of the shelf!

  7. My problem is I love all ice cream so I would just turn to Ben & Jerry (my two favorite men), or Haggendaz, or even the Harris Teeter store brand.

  9. Breaking from an "addiction" like ice cream is tough, but maybe it will be easier than you thought :) Good luck with your back to back races!
