A test and strength training lately

Monday and Tuesday I took my Concealed Carry class. I was really nervous about the shooting test because I hadn't shot a gun in several years, and the gun I was using for the test, I had never shot before.
 About an hour before my first class started, Jeremy and I went to my sisters house (she has lots of property), and I shot a few rounds.
It was freezing cold, snowing hard and very windy, but I did it! So that made me feel a little more comfortable about the test, although I hadn't shot at a target, so I wasn't sure if I could make that.

The class I took was a Ladies only class. There were 25 of us in the class, and I was the youngest one! (And I'm 38)
 I would say probably 90% were women over 60. I was so surprised. I thought it would be mostly younger women, and very few if any, older women. I was totally wrong.

It was very informative, and very interesting. I learned a lot and gained a lot of appreciation/respect for a gun.

Then it was test time. Time to shoot the target man. We had to get 11 out of 20 on the target. The target area was much larger than I thought it would be, so that was a relief.
 I felt like my shots were all over the place, but in the end, most of them were on the target, and I passed. Shew!!

Then it was time for the written test. It was open book, so I didn't think it would be too bad, and it wasn't. Out of 25 questions, I only missed 1.

I am so glad that's over!

In other news...I am off Weight Watchers. It just wasn't working for me. :(

I worked out with my personal trainer for the last time, and she kept saying how much stronger I was.  Remember when she was surprised how weak I was? Remember when I could hardly even do 1 pushup? This time I did 20! Hard work pays off!

 She wrote out 2 workout plans for me that I will do on my own 4 times a week. I will meet with her once a month from now on.

 Today is my Friday. I get a 4 day weekend! Somehow I have to do a 14 mile run. I have a feeling that will be done on the treadmill, because I don't run outside when the temps are in the teens.
 Who am I kidding, I don't run outside if it's below 40.

Anyone else get a long weekend?

  1. you & me both girl - 40's is usually my limit too.
    I'm so surprised as well that it was a more mature bunch - I think that says a lot about today's world where no one feels safe.
    20 PUSH UPS??!?!? YOU GO GIRL!! I am so proud of you!

  2. Yay, congrats on passing!
    I'm actually not surprised at the older crowd. In my neighborhood just about every old lady grandma looking type keep guns by their bedstand and one near the door. You'd look at them and think, no way. But they not only keep them, but they know how to use them, and darn well wouldn't hesitate if someone broke into their homes!

  3. Eek yes I would not be running in the teens! Your class sounds really interesting! Congrats on passing everything! I wonder why the mature age woman is interest in gun class! I never would have guessed either!

  5. That's great that your trainer gave you a defined home workout plan! That's a huge help and makes it easier for you to take ownership of your workouts. Great job with the push ups!

  6. After being Lifetime on WW since 2010, made the decision to drop Weight Watchers today. Deleted app. Goodbye! Been maintaining on MFP for 3 months. I was a meeting member. Things have changed for the worse.
