The missing piece

This weekend was amazing! Why? Because Saturday was 70 degrees and sunny. I had been looking forward to Saturday's run for a long time. I only ran 5 miles though. I could've done more, but I didn't. Trying not to beat myself up over that.
Saturday night I went to see comedian Dan Cummings with a friend. He was actually pretty funny. It was nice to forget about life for awhile, and just laugh!

Sunday night we had an adoption celebration for my nephew!
My sister, who lives in WI with her hubby and 2 other sons, had been fostering Robert. After going through hell with the birth parents for a couple years, they were finally able to adopt him a couple weeks ago. So they came back to KY so we could all celebrate.
We are SO happy that he is officially part of our family!

We all wrote messages on these puzzle pieces, and my sister will put the puzzle together and then frame it.

How amazing is the cake my twinnie made for him! I cried the first time I saw it.

Brothers for life

Loving on their youngest brother

A very serious moment with the twin

And then a not so serious moment

While I was there I thought it would be fun to go muddin' and get my car stuck. Thankfully I have a lot of big, tough brother in law's, who pulled me out. Of course I had just gotten my car washed too.
I love love love adoption. About 5 years ago Jeremy and I were going to adopt a baby girl from India. We had been waiting for 2 years, when they told us it would be another 2 year wait (when they had originally told us the wait was less than a year!).
And since everything had now expired, we would have to pay all the fees all over again, etc. We just weren't able to do it, so that door shut.
But of course I still think about what could've been, all the time. So, adoption is very close to my heart.
Robert truly brings so much joy to our family. I just wish they lived closer!

  1. Oh my gosh... that last picture. His little precious sweet face!!! I love adoption. Every little child needs a family.
So glad you had a fantastic weekend.
That cake!! That is ADORABLE & perfect!

  2. What a beautiful cake! And I love the puzzle piece idea - your sister will treasure that, I'm sure. I wimped out on running on Saturday -- too warm, if I can use that as an excuse. ;) But we did get 4.5 miles in yesterday. Oh well - some is still better than none!

    1. I know what you mean, who would've thought it would be too warm in Feb.! That's right, at least you got some of it in!

  3. Congrats on their adoption, what a cutie!!
My aunt adopted a couple of babies from China years back, and I couldn't believe how expensive it was.
The cake is super cute, your twin is quite talented, the puzzle idea so fun!!!

  4. What a wonderful weekend you had! With the beautiful weather for running and an adorable addition to your family, there's lots to be thankful for! I love how close you and your family are. What a blessing that is. :)

    1. I'm so glad it worked, April! :)
I am definitely blessed with my family!

  5. I would love to foster and adoptive! Your family seems so warm and supportive!
