I think I'm addicted

I think I'm addicted. Addicted to running races.
I just signed up for 2 more half's in May. I bought a bib from a friend for the Horse Capital Half on May 21. And then I signed up for the Horse Patty Half on May 14.
Notice a theme in those races?

The description for the Horse Patty says it's a beautiful course through horse farms, but to watch your step. Ewww!
Look at how many people ran it last year...2! They also have another half that starts a couple hours before this one. Less than 20 people ran that last year.
And I saw all of this after I signed up. Not sure what I'm getting myself into...

Tuesday night I took a spin class, with a good instructor! Love when I feel almost dead at the end of these classes. That's when I know I've had a good workout! Sick, I know. :)

I'm still going on weekly walks with a friend. Walking is SO hard! I feel out of breath and tired. It's quite strange.

Tonight I'm headed to Carmel, Indiana for half marathon #21!
This one is super special because it was where I ran my very first marathon.
What makes me really happy is that it's a flat course. I can use that after the hills at the last race.

Have a lovely weekend!!

  1. You are my running hero!!! All the halfs. I want to be you!!!
2 people? That is hilarious. I'm anxious to see how many people do it this year.
I meant to ask you when I saw your spinning pic on IG - it said Southeast Christian Gym - do they have one at their Blankenbaker campus? if so, i need to start pushing the Indiana campus to get one ;)
... that's so crazy how your body has a harder time with walking. You have runner lungs :)
Good luck on HM #21 ... I'm rooting you on as always!

  2. Oh man, I can't wait to hear about the half with only two people in it. Think of it as a trail race...with poop!
    Enjoy your race this weekend!

  3. Well, now those sound interesting! And if you're going to have an addiction, I would say a running-race one is a good one to have! :) I'm thinking wearing old shoes that you can hose off after the race would be a good idea too. ;)

Good luck tomorrow!! Can't wait to read your recap!

  4. I will be eagerly awaiting the race recap of the Horse Patty half...lol. I am famous for signing up for races and then reading about them after the fact. I almost died when I signed up for my second half then read that it contained "several rolling hills." But a race is a race, and I try to see the positive in them all. :-)

Good luck tomorrow. Keep us posted! :-)

  5. Well I can think of worse addictions!
That's awesome, and I'm kinda a little (okay a lot) jealous!
Good luck this weekend! I'm actually running a race tomorrow, just a 5k for fun, but first race in over 3 years, so at least it's something LOL Eventually I'll get up to the good races!

    1. Glad I'm not the only one who does that! Several rolling hills is usually a lot worse than it sounds! Lol! Thanks, April!

  7. I am feeling more motivated now I hear you say walking is hard. Because I walk a lot but the thought of running that far scares me! II am always blown away by how far you run!

    1. I really think if you walk a lot, you would be a great runner. Thank you, Jess, I truly love it!

  8. That is the smallest race I've ever seen! Wow!

At this moment, I am not signed up for a single race and it's killing me! I totally understand the addiction.

By the way, your walking pace is FAST! Maybe it's because I'm so short, but the fastest walking pace I can manage is about 17 minute miles. No wonder walking is hard - you are super speedy! :)

    1. Oh yeah, that would be killing me too if I didn't have any races scheduled. I know the feeling!
I didn't realize my walking pace was fast! Lol! Sounds like that could be why I'm exhausted afterwards!

  9. I can't imagine what a 2 person half marathon would even look like. I think it is cool that they ran so close together though.

    1. I can't imagine that either! Kind of makes me wonder if they were friends or something. Hopefully there will be a few more this year!
