Some cake and a very long concert

I am so glad I'm on 'Spring Break' this week. I need it to recover from my weekend!

Friday night my family got together at my twinnie's house for dinner.
I carb loaded for my half marathon Saturday, by eating a couple salads. Ok, I guess that's not carb loading.
But I did have a couple bites of the amazing chocolate buttercream birthday cake she made for my niece's birthday.

I mean look at this! Her talent is incredible.

It was very hard to stop at a couple bites, but I managed somehow

Gorgeous sunset in her back yard

Saturday I ran my half marathon. (Recap tomorrow)

Then Sunday we took the Youth Group to Winter Jam. Stood in line for 2 1/2 hours, then went into the concert, which lasted 5 hours. 5 hours, people! Gahhhh.
It was fun, it was just very long. I got home about 1 a.m.

Totally random, but I was so excited to see watermelon's in the store again. My favorite fruit ever!
Until I saw the price....since when is watermelon $7??? Seriously?

And that was my weekend! Tell me about yours.

What's your favorite fruit?

  2. Oh wow - I don't think I could stop at a couple bites with that cake ... good for you! Have you seen or tried the thing where they cut a hole in a watermelon and stick an electric beater into it to make a watermelon slushie? I could see me making a huge mess with it but I might try that this year. And ... I'm sad I missed out on Winter Jam ... but then again, 5 hours - wow! I would definitely be dragging!

  3. Watermelon is my FAVORITE fruit. I love it after a run on a hot day...but really...anytime!! :-D So yummy!!

The cake looks amazing. I normally don't get to eat cakes due to food allergies, and it makes me sad. Your willpower is amazing.

Salad = fiber. I can't do salad before a race...bad things happen with the tummy. I can't wait to read your recap. I've never heard a bad thing about RTB!!

    1. It's my favorite fruit too. I once ate almost a whole one, in one setting. I learned the hard way never to do that again! ;)
Thankfully I had no tummy issues at all with my salads.

  4. Yeah - someone asked me to volunteer at that concert & I knew it would be long - especially on a Sunday night. Kuddos for you for taking the kids to see it. Thank goodness its Spring Break!

THAT CAKE - that is gorgeous! I want that for my birthday! :)

I cant stand the price of fruits & veggies off season. You know my hate of buying blueberries for $10 - but I did... UGH! Watermelons will be cheap in just a month or two. Hang in there!

Cant wait to read your recap!!!
